Why is the Book Online button not appearing on my Google Business Profile?

A Booking Link and a Google Booking Button Are Not Always the Same Thing

A business can add appointment or booking links to a Google Business Profile, but the exact customer-facing presentation depends on the profile, category, and booking integration. Entering a URL in an appointment field does not guarantee that Google will render the same prominent button another business displays.

The first question is whether customers can reach the correct booking destination, not whether the interface uses a specific label. The broader path from profile interaction to booked business is covered in our Miami Google Business Profile guide.

Understand the Two Booking Paths

Google currently supports business links that can send customers to an appointment or reservation URL, and it also works with selected third-party booking providers. A business can add multiple eligible links in some categories and set a preferred link. Third-party providers may also add links through their integrations.

If the business wants a specific provider-powered experience, confirm that the provider participates in the relevant Google booking ecosystem and that the connection is configured from the provider side where required. A manually entered URL and an integrated booking provider should not be assumed to produce identical interface elements.

Check the Public Customer Path End to End

Open the profile as a customer, find the booking or appointment action, and follow it all the way to a completed appointment. Confirm the destination is mobile-friendly, the right service or location is selected, available times are correct, and the confirmation reaches the business’s scheduling system.

  • Verify the link saved in the correct transaction or appointment field.
  • Set the preferred link when multiple eligible links are present.
  • Remove or correct outdated third-party providers instead of leaving competing booking paths.
  • Test the final booking confirmation, not only the first click.

Do Not Diagnose Booking Performance From Button Appearance Alone

A visually prominent button can still send customers into a poor scheduler. Track booking starts, completed appointments, cancellations, and no-shows when the systems allow it. If the profile generates clicks but few completed bookings, the constraint may be availability, service selection, page friction, or the scheduling platform rather than GBP.

At YSH, we compare the booking path with calls and website leads because different customer intents may prefer different next steps. The correct profile setup gives the customer a usable choice while keeping attribution understandable.

When a Third-Party Link Appears Without Permission

Google works with selected providers that can place booking or ordering links on profiles. If an unwanted provider link appears, the removal process can involve the provider itself rather than a simple manual delete in every case. Document which link is business-controlled and which came from a partner before changing the profile.

For businesses that rely on appointments, YSH Local SEO and Google Maps strategy treats the booking link as part of conversion infrastructure, not a decorative profile feature.

The Booking-Link Rule

Optimize for a reliable completed booking path. Add the correct link, understand whether a provider integration is involved, test the public experience, and judge success by appointments rather than the exact shape of the button.
